Chicago Dental Studio, located in the heart of Chicago, IL, sought a powerful testimonial video that would build trust among prospective patients, showcase their compassionate, high-quality care, and humanize their practice through real patient experiences.
Our goal was to go beyond a traditional testimonial video and craft an emotionally driven narrative. We started by developing a clear story arc: from the patient’s initial concerns, to their treatment journey, and finally to their confident smile transformation. We grounded this story in visuals and audio that reflect the local flavor of Chicago, emphasizing the studio’s place in the community.
Filming the Testimonial
We brought in a dynamic and cinematic approach to filming. Close-up B-roll of gentle dental work, candid practitioner-patient moments, and exterior studio shots added layers of visual interest. We used a two-camera setup during interviews—one for a tight facial shot and another for a wider angle to include background context.
Slow push-ins during emotionally significant moments, handheld shots for realism, and ambient natural light softened by LED fill created an inviting, authentic atmosphere. Cutaways—like a comforting hand on the shoulder or a patient nervously fidgeting—helped break up the narrative while enhancing its emotional impact.
Post-Production Editing
In editing, our mission was to make it feel like a personal journey, not just a testimonial. We started with a fade-in and subtle ambient city noise to set the stage. As the patient spoke, we interwove their words with shots of their transformation—before, during, and after treatment. The pacing slowed at key emotional moments and quickened when showcasing dramatic improvements.
We applied a warm, inviting color grade that emphasized natural skin tones and soft studio lighting, avoiding anything overly sterile. Uplifting piano music added depth and emotional tone, timed carefully to rise during emotional reveals and soften during reflection. Lower-thirds and final branded overlays ensured the practice’s identity remained visible but unobtrusive.
